A mixed-methods design was employed, combining a survey of 265 students with in-depth interviews with 15 students selected based on their level of OCA participation. The findings indicate that students frequently engage in academic-related activities, English clubs, research projects, volunteer work, and Youth Union activities. Participation in OCAs has clear positive effects on students’ soft skills—particularly communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability, time-management skills, and academic engagement and improves the quality of life (increasing happiness and expanding social relationships). Academic OCAs are strongly associated with perceived improvement in English proficiency, especially in reading–writing, listening, and speaking. However, the impact of OCAs on academic performance is indirect and varies across activity types; students with excessive part-time work reported declines in GPA. Notably, the study also reports that 30.9% of students frequently experience stress/overload, and 24.9% report declining mental health due to uncontrolled participation, indicating a dual impact of OCAs on well-being. The study also identifies key factors influencing OCA participation, including lecturer guidance, peer influence, and institutional support. Based on these findings, several recommendations are proposed to enhance the organization and management of OCAs, aligning them with academic, skill-development, and career-oriented outcomes to improve students’ holistic development.
Nguyễn Thị Kim Phượng; Nguyễn Thị Thanh Vân, Bùi Thị Tịnh Copyright (c) 2026 Tay Nguyen Journal of Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://tckhtn.ttn.edu.vn/index.php/tckh/article/view/704 Wed, 30 Apr 2025 00:00:00 +0700 English speaking fluency of third-year students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, Tay Nguyen University https://tckhtn.ttn.edu.vn/index.php/tckh/article/view/724
The proficient use of English, especially speaking skills and fast response in communication has become an essential requirement in the context of globalization. Enhancing English speaking reflex for students at Tay Nguyen University is therefore an urgent need to meet the demands of human resource development. This study aims to investigate the students’ perception of their response time and agility in English communication and identify and analyze factors affecting English speaking reflex among the third-year students of the Faculty of Foregin Languages. The study employs random sampling to ensure objectivity and representativeness, thereby increasing the reliability of the findings. The study indicates that the English speaking reflex of third-year students at the Faculty of Foreign Languages is at a fairly good level, but still lacks flexibility, naturalness, and automaticity in communication. Analysis shows that speaking reflex is simultaneously influenced by multiple factors, including language knowledge, psychological factors, listening comprehension, and the communication environment. The harmonious integration of these factors is a key condition for developing rapid, natural, and effective speaking fluency.
Nguyễn Lệ Hằng, Đỗ Thị Nhật Lệ, Phạm Trần Linh Chi, Phạm Thanh Huệ Copyright (c) 2026 Tay Nguyen Journal of Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://tckhtn.ttn.edu.vn/index.php/tckh/article/view/724 Thu, 30 Apr 2026 00:00:00 +0700 Digitalization-oriented solutions for managing pedagogical student support policies in response to decree no. 60/2025/ND-CP at Tay Nguyen University https://tckhtn.ttn.edu.vn/index.php/tckh/article/view/717
This paper analyzes the impact of Decree No. 60/2025/ND-CP, which amends and supplements Decree No. 116/2020/ND-CP, on the management of support policies for pedagogical students at Tay Nguyen University in the context of accelerating digital transformation. By clarifying the legal framework and the key innovations introduced in Decree No. 60/2025/ND-CP, the study identifies challenges related to financial flow operations as well as the urgent demand for accurate and timely data governance. Based on practical management experience, the paper proposes a comprehensive digitalization orientation for the management process using a closed-loop model developed on the Laravel Framework, aiming to automate approval, disbursement, and financial monitoring procedures. The study thereby contributes to improving governance efficiency, ensuring accuracy and timeliness, and affirming the pivotal role of technological application solutions in enhancing transparency and adaptability in current support policies for pedagogical students.
Phan Xuân Thọ, Y Zina Ksor, Thị Lan Chi Tống Copyright (c) 2026 Tay Nguyen Journal of Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://tckhtn.ttn.edu.vn/index.php/tckh/article/view/717 Thu, 30 Apr 2026 00:00:00 +0700 Household solid waste management in Ea Sup district, Dak Lak province https://tckhtn.ttn.edu.vn/index.php/tckh/article/view/709
This study meticulously assesses the prevailing status of Household Solid Waste Management (HSWM) within the administrative boundaries of Ea Sup District, Dak Lak Province. Employing a mixed-method approach—combining policy analysis, extensive field observation, and a large-scale quantitative survey across three primary stakeholder cohorts—the research uncovers significant systemic limitations. Notwithstanding a moderate collection efficiency ranging between 75% and 80% in the urban core, the overall waste management hierarchy is structurally impaired by severe infrastructural deficits. Critically, the primary disposal modality remains unsanitary open dumping, characterized by a complete absence of fundamental environmental safeguards, notably a dedicated leachate treatment system, which serves as a major contributor to local ecological degradation. Furthermore, resource recovery mechanisms are nascent, yielding an empirically low recycling rate of approximately 10%. A central finding underscores a profound governance failure in communication: an alarming 66% of surveyed households report a lack of awareness regarding existing HSWM regulations and mandatory source separation protocols. These deficiencies collectively elevate the marginal social cost of waste management and fundamentally compromise the district’s pathway toward environmental sustainability. The paper concludes by proposing a transition from rudimentary waste disposal to an integrated waste resource management model, underpinned by the Circular Economy principles, technological modernization, and intensive community socialization.
Trần Ngọc Ánh, Trần Thị Lan Copyright (c) 2026 Tay Nguyen Journal of Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://tckhtn.ttn.edu.vn/index.php/tckh/article/view/709 Thu, 30 Apr 2026 00:00:00 +0700 Corporate social responsibility and the performance of coffee enterprises in the Central Highlands of Vietnam: the moderating role of organizational support https://tckhtn.ttn.edu.vn/index.php/tckh/article/view/703
This research investigates the impact of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) on the performance of coffee firms (CP) in Central Highland Vietnam, with an emphasis on the mediating effects of Green Product Innovation (GPI), Employee Commitment (EC), and the moderating effect of Organizational Support (OS). The sample consisted of 182 managers and workers from coffee enterprises in Dak Lak, Gia Lai, and Lam Dong, who collected the data. It employed Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) for testing. Findings The results show (i) a high positive direct impact of CSR on CP (β=0.388, p<0.001), and an indirect one through GPI (β= 0.173, p<0.01) as well as EC (β = 0.334, p < 0.001), where both factors are used as partial mediators, indicating strong combined influence with mediating effects on the relationship between CSR and CP. In addition, OS positively moderates the impact of GPI on corporate performance (β = 0.139, p < 0.05), whereas it does not have a significant effect on the EC–CP relationship. This paper contributes to the literature by clarifying two mediating mechanisms that lie between CSR and performance, revealing how CSR works, and indicating that corporate support can strengthen the benefits of green innovation. The results have some practical implications for small and medium enterprises in the agricultural sector on how to integrate CSR as a tool in their sustainability and innovative strategies.
Lê Thanh Hà, Nguyễn Thị Hải Yến Copyright (c) 2026 Tay Nguyen Journal of Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://tckhtn.ttn.edu.vn/index.php/tckh/article/view/703 Thu, 30 Apr 2026 00:00:00 +0700 Conceptual metaphors in a life like a path-seeker by Phan Van Truong https://tckhtn.ttn.edu.vn/index.php/tckh/article/view/728
The article examines, analyzes, describes, and interprets the system of conceptual metaphors in the excerpt A life like a path seeker by Phan Van Truong, a text rich in philosophical reflections and humanistic orientations that has been incorporated into the Grade 10 Literature curriculum. Drawing on the theoretical framework of conceptual metaphor in Cognitive Linguistics, the study identifies three fundamental conceptual metaphors in the work: LIFE IS A SELF-CREATED JOURNEY, THE MEANS OF SUCCESS IS GIVING and HAPPINESS IS COMPASSIONATE ACCEPTANCE. Among these, the first metaphor holds a central position, illustrating how Phan Van Truong conceptualizes the life journey of each individual and emphasizing the resilience and perseverance required to create one’s own path. The other two metaphors reveal his views on the value of kindness, generosity, and compassion as essential foundations for achieving success and happiness. Collectively, this system of conceptual metaphors not only reflects the author’s embodied experiences but also provides orientational guidance for readers, encouraging them to cultivate a positive worldview, confidence, and a strong sense of responsibility in shaping their personal development.
Vũ Hoàng Cúc Copyright (c) 2026 Tay Nguyen Journal of Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://tckhtn.ttn.edu.vn/index.php/tckh/article/view/728 Thu, 30 Apr 2026 00:00:00 +0700 Current status of wound care practice competency among students at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, Tay Nguyen University in 2025 https://tckhtn.ttn.edu.vn/index.php/tckh/article/view/723
Background: Wound care is a core clinical competency aimed at ensuring patient safety and infection control. W.Theob. in Yok Don national park https://tckhtn.ttn.edu.vn/index.php/tckh/article/view/715
This study aimed to identify the dendrological attributes, stand structure, and selection criteria for seed mother trees of Xylia xylocarpa (Roxb.) W.Theob. in Yok Đon National Park, Dak Lak Province, Vietnam. Three line transects (3.1-4.5 km in length) combined with two 50 × 50 m sample plots and surveys of 20 candidate mother trees were employed to evaluate overstory composition, growth characteristics, and natural regeneration. The results indicated that X. xylocarpa is a dominant species in the dry deciduous forest ecosystem, occurring mainly at elevations of 220–270 m, with most sampled stands concentrated between 220 and 260 m on gently sloping terrain characterised by well-drained gray and basalt-derived soils. The species achieved an Importance Value Index (IV%) of 9.9–14.9%, confirming its ecological prominence alongside key associates such as Dipterocarpus obtusifolius, Shorea obtusa, and Lagerstroemia calyculata. Natural regeneration density ranged from 46 to 51 individuals per plot, of which X. xylocarpa accounted for 7-8 seedlings per plot; More than 70% of regenerating individuals were classified as good quality, and seed-origin regeneration was predominant (>75%), indicating a relatively stable regeneration process. Based on the Vietnamese Standard TCVN 8755:2024, 20 seed mother trees were selected, exhibiting superior phenotypic performance with a mean diameter at breast height (DBH) of 32.2 cm, a mean total height of 23.3 m, an average height-to-clear-bole ratio of 66.2%, a mean quality score of 14.4/15, and an average seed yield of 4.7 kg per tree. The findings provide essential quantitative evidence for forest genetic resources conservation, the establishment of seed stands and seed orchards, and the sustainable development of X. xylocarpa to support large-timber reforestation programs in the Central Highlands of Vietnam.
Trần Thị Xuân Phấn, La Ánh Dương, Hoàng Sơn Doãn, Thành Nhân Đặng, Thị Lắng Triệu, Đức Định Nguyễn, Văn Dung Đặng Copyright (c) 2026 Tay Nguyen Journal of Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://tckhtn.ttn.edu.vn/index.php/tckh/article/view/715 Thu, 30 Apr 2026 00:00:00 +0700 Land-related assistance policies for ethnic minority communities in Dak Lak province pursuant to the 2024 land law https://tckhtn.ttn.edu.vn/index.php/tckh/article/view/730
The article focuses on investigating the new provisions of the 2024 Land Law regarding land-related assistance policies for ethnic minority communities. By analyzing the current situation in Dak Lak province, utilizing surveys of land users, administrators, and land management experts in conjunction with data collection from competent authorities, the study elucidates the necessity of these policies through the enactment of Resolution No. 28/2024/NQ-HĐND, aimed at addressing the shortage of residential and productive land for ethnic minorities. The findings reveal that while the new regulations have established a more stringent legal framework for land allocation to prioritized beneficiaries and fulfilled the people's aspirations, practical enforcement still encounters obstacles regarding land fund resources and the limited awareness within a segment of the ethnic minority population. Based on these results, several solutions are proposed, focusing on tapping into land funds from agricultural and forestry farms as a strategic resource for implementing land allocation policies for residential and agricultural purposes in Dak Lak. Furthermore, in addition to land support, local authorities should provide further assistance in production methods to help residents enhance the efficiency of land use for the allocated land.
Đỗ Tiến Thuấn, Dương Thị Diễm Quỳnh, Nguyễn Thị Ngọc Quyên Copyright (c) 2026 Tay Nguyen Journal of Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://tckhtn.ttn.edu.vn/index.php/tckh/article/view/730 Fri, 17 Jul 2026 00:00:00 +0700 Current status of cultivation, processing, and development potential of betel nut (Areca catechu L.) in Dak Lak province https://tckhtn.ttn.edu.vn/index.php/tckh/article/view/714
This study surveyed 200 farmers, collectors, and processors across five key betel nut–growing regions of Dak Lak Province (Buon Ma Thuot, Buon Ho, Krong Nang, Krong Bong, and Cu Kuin) to assess the current status of cultivation practices, harvesting, processing, and development potential of Areca catechu L. The results indicate that areca nut is emerging as a promising commercial crop in the Central Highlands, with an average yield of 22.8 kg per tree per year, a harvest period starting 4–5 years after planting, and an average planting density of 2,536 trees per hectare, which exceeds the commonly recommended density of 1,400 trees per hectare. Three dominant varieties were identified, namely Cau Dai (49.5%), Cau Vu Bo (18.3%), and Cau Tron (13.8%), with Cau Dai being the most widespread due to its stable productivity and good adaptability. Buon Ma Thuot (26.5 kg/tree), Krong Nang (24.5 kg/tree), and Cu Kuin showed the highest yield potential owing to favorable red basalt soils and climatic conditions. Nevertheless, production remains fragmented and small-scale, with a lack of concentrated production zones, standardized cultivation and processing protocols, and modern processing technology, while more than 95% of dried products are exported through informal cross-border trade to China, exposing farmers and processors to high price and market risks. The study recommends adjusting planting density, establishing concentrated raw material zones, standardizing technical procedures, and investing in value-added processing technologies to improve product quality and economic returns, thereby promoting sustainable development of the areca nut value chain in Dak Lak Province.
Nguyễn Thị Thoa, Nguyễn Thị Kim Oanh, Phạm Văn Thao, Võ Thị Thùy Dung, Trần Thị Thắm Hà, Trương Minh Hằng, Trần Văn Cường, Nguyễn Đình Sỹ Copyright (c) 2026 Tay Nguyen Journal of Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://tckhtn.ttn.edu.vn/index.php/tckh/article/view/714 Thu, 30 Apr 2026 00:00:00 +0700
